First Orientation Meeting!

Last Sunday I went to our first People to People orientation meeting at the NewportYacht Club. I didn’t know so many kids from Washington were going to Austria. We all did a "get to know each other" game where we had to find people who answered questions like, "do you have any pets?", "have you traveled to a foreign country?", "what's your favorite food?". We all got into it. I was so happy to meet some of the other athletes, and now there will be some kids I’ll know when I go to Austria!

I had to leave early to get to our game at Starfire, but my mom helped by staying for the rest of the meeting so I could find out what I missed. The next meeting is in May.

Part of my preparation is to get certified as a Sports Ambassador - there are TESTS!!! I took quiz on responsibility for going to Austria and what to look forward to in Austria. I got a hundred percent on the second try. Also, I'm working on my physical training. We need to be fit and healthy to have enough energy to play soccer AND go sightseeing after training. All athletes need to stay fit and healthy to have enough energy to have FUN.

Sounders FC wins 3-0 over NY!

Sounders FC just won their first game of the season, 3-0, against New York Red bull. The game was really intense. I was on my toes nearly the whole game! Kasey Keller, the Sounder’s goalie, who played in Europe for ten years, had two amazing saves. (Dad reminds me he grew up in Lacey WA where my grandparents now live)

I brought one of my teammates, Tenley, and one future (hopefully) teammate, Sam :-) . We saw one of the most amazing saves in the second half. One of the Red Bulls shot from above the 18 yd box. The shot was going to the top of the goal. Kasey backed up to his line and dropped his hip back and pushed the ball over the net. I could not believe it.

That is one of the keeper moves I am working on. To see it happen in a game perfectly was a dream.

MLS Cup in Seattle!!!!

While we headed up to ski at the Summit yesterday my dad got an email from the Sounders FC that the MLS championship game will be in Seattle. COOL! We also got our ticket package from the Sounders this week. The scarves are great. I'm looking forward to going to the opening game next Thursday. My brother can't go :-( he has a 3rd grade musical that night. I think I get to invite a teammate to go with me and dad! It's gonna be FUN.
